This is the governing body which meets four times each year, and includes:

  • President: Rev. John Goddard (Baptist)
  • Vice-President: Sheila Goodliffe (Anglican)
  • Treasurer: David Andrews (Methodist)
  • Social Responsibility Forum Convenor: Susan Aglionby (Anglican)
  • Denominational Ecumenical Officer reps: Fr. Michael Murphy (Roman Catholic); Rev. Martin Williams (Methodist)
  • Co-opted members: The Venerable George Howe (Anglican); Rev. Sarah Moore (United Reformed Church)

 

We aim

  • to seek a deepening of  communion with Christ and with one another in the Church, which is his body;
  • to fulfill our  mission to proclaim the Gospel by common witness and service in the world, to the glory of the one God: Creator, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • to celebrate the call to unity of Jesus that ‘all may be one’.

 

 

The Council employs

  • a part-time Ecumenical Development Officer (Ruth Harvey)
  • and a part-time Social Responsibility Development Officer (Helen Boothroyd).

 

Celebrating Together

is the annual gathering or Forum of Churches Together in Cumbria to which all are invited.

This event is a celebration of all that we are and all that we do together. The next Celebrating Together is on Saturday 15th September 2012 at St. Thomas's Church in Kendal, from 10am - 4pm. More details to follow.

 

The Way is the newspaper of the churches in Cumbria, which is issued three times each year. The Manifesto of The Way outlines the purpose and vision of the newspaper. The Social Responsibility Forum

The forum meets as agreed throughout the year. The Forum is served by the Social Responsibility Development Officer (Helen Boothroyd) and is chaired by its convener (Susan Aglionby). The Forum brings together denominational social responsibility officers, representatives of the member denominations of CTiC  and representatives of the groups listed above.  The Forum meets for consultation. It also acts on behalf of Churches Together in Cumbria in all matters of social responsibility.  The Forum arranges a biennial conference.
