Ask the Climate Change Question! 2010 General Election
With the failure of Copenhagen to reach a
global deal on climate change, the upcoming general election is our next
opportunity to put climate change on the agenda.
Our voices are our
most powerful campaigning tool, especially at election time when politicians
from all parties are keen to hear from voters about the issues that matter.
But nothing will happen if we remain silent.
Tearfund is asking you
to do one thing this election: To use your voice to ask the climate
question. Find out more about how you can use your voice this election
by visiting live link to:
www.tearfund.org/election Climate change can be tackled. The
UK can be put on the path to a green economy with thousands of new green
jobs. But only if politicians know that there is public support for action.
In the UK, a General Election is the opportunity to give that message loud
and clear.
That's why we've joined with Christian Aid, Oxfam, RSPB,
CAFOD, WWF-UK and others on this crucial issue to ask all our supporters to
do one thing: Ask the Climate Question.
Special Message for CCACC Viewers in Westmorland and Lonsdale Constituency:
Westmorland and Lonsdale is a marginal
constituency one of a few seats around the country that a party needs to win
if it's to form the next government. That means in the coming months
politicians will be paying meticulous attention to the feedback they're
getting from voters in your area.
Our ask is simple. Whenever a
representative of a political party, the media or a polling company asks you
about the issues that will matter to you at the election you include climate
change.
Together with thousands of others in Westmorland and Lonsdale
we can get climate change up the agenda and show there is public support for
fair and ambitious action.
You can find out more about the
campaign, and ideas about how you can pray at live link to:

Carbon Fast (Lent) 17th February - 3rd April, 2010
This provides simple prayers and practical actions to help people respond to climate change by reducing their emissions and focusing on poor people hit hardest by the changing climate. It's a great way for people to start responding to the issue of climate change as many of the actions are very simple and may well be things they are already doing. This will be the third year of the Carbon Fast for Tearfund. It was created by Bishop James Jones, the Bishop of Liverpool who first ran it in his diocese in 2007. See 'Impossible to Ignore' - a range of very brief, thought provoking videos.
