
Energy Issues Task Group
The Social Responsibility Forum set up a new energy task group in summer 2006. It is vitally important that the Church engages in the current national debate about energy, and in particular its significance in addressing the UK's commitments to substantial reductions in CO2 emissions (essential for tackling the urgent issue of climate change).
This task group will respond to national, regional or local documents on energy issues as appropriate.
The membership of the energy task group has a wide breadth of relevant experience, knowledge and interest, and includes some who have worked in the energy sector or related fields. They hold a diverse range of views on the major energy issues, as does the membership of the Church as a whole, but all are committed to promoting energy conservation and a substantial lowering of carbon emissions.
The energy group has already responded to 'Rising to the Challenge: A Climate Change Action Plan for England's Northwest', the Department of Trade and Industry's Nuclear New-Build Consultation, and the draft climate change bill.. To read these responses click on their titles below:
